Running after AppearancesYutang LinYears of solid practices gradually yield relaxation. Comment: Having dedicated oneself to Dharma practices for many years, only then could one gradually sense relaxation in various parts of the body that one previously was unaware of to be stiff. Ordinary worldlings have no way of understanding such matters. Hence they run in the opposite direction of the proper way by engaging in mutual entanglements and thereby adding tensions and restrictions to burden all. A Buddhist friend suddenly raised the intention to pursue wealth because of some frustrations encountered in life. Out of compassion I immediately pointed out directly that running after worldly appearances would not yield long-lasting peace. Fortunately it was well received, and the illusive thought was put to rest.
