No Discarding

Yutang Lin

Dirt and mud piled up over generations;
Mutual pollution never ceased a second.
Pure thoughts flash no longer than dew.
Caring for the stubborn without a break.

Comments:

Worldly dirt and mud and sentient beings' karmas are accumulated over many lives and many generations. They enhance and feed on one another. When a pure thought arises, it often flashes no longer than morning dews. Under such circumstances it is indeed extremely difficult to escape from cycling in suffering. The boundless compassion of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are revealed through their caring for such seemingly incurable sentient beings.
