Reminiscence

Yutang Lin

Reminiscence deep or shallow, even forgotten,
Could not be forced but conditioned naturally.
Deserted or avoided, more painful than to die.
Impacting and admired, such a one ever parted?

Comment:

Whether reminiscence is present or absent, deep or shallow, could not be forced. It is a natural consequence of past activities and relations. While alive and yet being deserted or avoided, one would be like dead and even suffer more. If ones life sets a good example that continues to yield influences and be admired and followed, then he or she could never be seriously considered as someone already in the past. How we should conduct our lives had better be reflected in this light.
