Plowing by Pen

Yutang Lin

Plowing by pen all depends on spiritual assets abound.
Lifting heavy as if light, it seems of little consequence.
Weeding and planting minds yields perpetual influence.
Compassionate irrigation to foster universal transcendence.

Comment:

To spread the Dharma through writings one needs to possess the right view. In addition, one needs to have experiences in Dharma practices. Only then can one write of substance and provide guidance according to needs. It seems easy to write words down; however, to maintain purity and orderliness is most difficult. Putting black words on white paper, it does not seem to be a big deal. Nevertheless, this could cultivate minds even thousands of years later. Born of compassion and given freely to all who come to pass, may such gifts of advice enable all to share the grace of Buddha in attaining enlightenment.
