菩提心願是希望一切眾生，不止是人類，都能證覺；因此，修行佛法的正確心態必需離於利害、親疏、恩怨、等等私心的介入。只有在這樣清明的心地裡，修行纔會有進境，也纔能真正對其他有情給予佛法上的幫助。 一位有情如何纔會發菩提心，纔會開始修行，纔能證覺，都不是其他有情所能代為定奪的。佛法修行者只能在無私的佛法奉獻上盡量努力，以助有緣眾早些醒悟、發心及修行。 至於佛法行者的證覺，當然也要等到私心根絕之後。所以，此文以「菩提無私」為題，希望能提醒諸修行者，如何而後可以進步。

Selfless Bodhi Yutang Lin
Bodhi aspiration aims at the full enlightenment of all sentient beings, not just for human beings. Hence, the correct attitude for practicing Dharma needs to be free from involvements of self-centered considerations of gain or loss, close or distant in relationship, and gratitude or grudge, etc. Only based on such clarity of mind, can Dharma practices attain advanced spheres, and can truly yield benefits of Dharma for other sentient beings. How could a sentient being develop Bodhi aspiration, could begin to adopt Dharma practice, could attain full enlightenment, all these cannot be determined by other sentient beings. A Dharma practitioner can only apply as much effort as capable in Dharma offerings in order to help others, who come into contact with the practitioner, to awake, aspire toward Bodhi and practice Dharma sooner. As to the full enlightenment of a Dharma practitioner, of course, it will occur only after all self-centered ideas in mind have vanished. Hence, this short essay is entitled ″Selfless Bodhi″, with the hope that it would remind Dharma practitioners as to how then one can advance on the enlightenment path.
