無緣眾生佛難渡,有緣善惡淺深別;

Meritorious Connections@Yutang Lin
Buddhas could not reach beings without causal connections to convert them.
Those with Dharma connections differ widely in propriety and enthusiasm.
All connections would be benefited rightly due to the grace of Guru Rinpoche.
Accumulation of meritorious merits should be practiced diligently by all of us.
Comment:
Buddhist teachings are based on universal truths. Hence, Buddhas' and Bodhisattvas' salvation activities also spread in accordance with causal laws. When some sentient being's connections with Dharma are neither proper nor sufficient, that would not be the time for conversion. Even among those having connections with the Dharma there are wide variations in their propriety, intimacy and duration; consequently, on the path to enlightenment ordinary practitioners are full of abrupt performances. The grand patriarch of Tantra, Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, promised that all having connections with him, regardless of what kind of connection, would be benefited rightly, i.e., be led by him through his great wisdom, great compassion and great power to eventually reach Buddhahood. Those of us that are fortunate enough to have become acquainted with Tantric teachings should endeavor to accumulate meritorious connections so that the fruits of our practices would mature sooner. The foundational practices for Tantric novices lay stress on reduction of karma and cultivation of merits so as to build a solid foundation for more advanced Tantric practices. People having Dharma connections need not have sufficient meritorious connections to receive Tantric teachings and blessings. Therefore, dedicated practitioners should pay special attention to the cultivation of meritorious connections.
