Today the fire puja to Sakyamuni Buddha in celebration of his holy Birthday went very well with many auspicious signs. On our way to our land we saw two sheep, two hens and one hare. We offered a lot of flowers of various varieties. Fire was huge and bright and all offerings were consumed to ashes. There were many auspicious signs during the fire puja. I mention a few below: Among the photos taken I noticed a clear fire phoenix (Feng) and a fire dragon (looking down at the fire pile from above); see photos attached. After the fire pile came down, at the center there appeared a dragon (snake shape) that rolled its body upward to form three layers, and this signifies Dragon King is supporting the Dharma which is Three-yanas-in-oneness. And this dragon is on top of a lion with clear shape of head, face, and body, and this signifies the seat of a Dharma teacher (Fa Shi). During a fire puja to Sakyamuni Buddha this sign appeared which is most appropriate and auspicious. See photo attached. After we paid our respect to the naturally formed Guan Yin statue on our land, at the center of the ash pile there appeared a small pig with head, body and even a small tail. Its mouth opened with something in it. See photo attached. After lunch when we tried to scoop up scattered objects near the file altar so that they would all be well consumed, we noticed a huge dragon head hovering above ground and facing the direction of the master's table. See photo attached. On our way to Timber Cove we stopped by disciple Tara Nancy's hermitage and I left our lineage logo card at the window by her door. I also rang the huge bell in her entrance hall to awaken the Buddha nature in that environment. At Timber Cove we paid respect to the Dragon King and found out that right now there is still no easy way for us to go to sea. So next vase offering will be postponed to August after I come back on July 22 from my coming trip to Asia. In the mean time we will look for ways to solve this problem. We stopped by Bloomfield Cemetery in Petaluma to do Powa service there. Photos taken during the above activities will soon be posted at our websites for you to visit. I will leave in the evening of May 24 to go to Taiwan to begin my 2-month Asia trip. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang

The second Four-Dragon Time vase offering was completed this morning. We offered 55 vases, number reached 3880. Next time will be 12 years later; may you live long enough to participate in it again! The two large vases offered one each on the two auspicious occasions were participated by people from 45 sources. Since many sources were participated by family or group of Dharma friends, so the number of participants were several hundred. On our way home we stopped by Calvary Catholic Cemetery in the City of Bodega to do Powa service.
Some photos were taken during the above Dharma activities, and they will be posted for your viewing soon. May 6 will be fire puja to Sakyamuni Buddha, and cemetery visit. May 20 will be vase offering, releasing of lives and cemetery vist; but the date need to be confirmed later by the friend who gives us ride out to sea. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! It was sunny today. Near our land we came across on the roadside a large ram. The fire puja to Medicine Guru Buddha went well with huge and bright fire. A piece of silk with Shu (Si Chuan, China) style embroidery of a pair of dragon and phoenix (蜀繡龍鳳) was offered. And it was burned into a dragon head. We have a photo of this. See attached file. In the ashes there appeared a dragon head facing south east and a lion's head facing north east. A slightly burned easter bunny candle was added to add the fire, and later in the ashes there is a rabbit shape formed by burned wood and offerings. The smoke puja also ent well, and all offerings were burned to fine ashes. On our way back we stopped by Bloomfield Cemetery in Petaluma and performed Powa service there. Some photos were taken during our activities. One of the cameras had memory card error, so we might have more photos to share if we can recover them. The 42 photos we have will soon be posted at our websites. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Today after we returned to my office I sealed the large vase for the coming Four-Dragon Time offering. April 25 will be Four-Dragon Time vase offering. Right now we have 54 vases to offer. Number up to 3879. May 6 will be fire puja to Sakyamuni Buddha, and cemetery visit. May 20 will be vase offering if the boat owner agree to take us out to sea on that date. May 24 I will leave for Taiwan in the evening. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang

The forecast for today was 60% chance of showers, and 4 to 5 a.m. this morning it was still stormy here. But on our way to Bodega Bay there were only a few short and light showers. At 7:30 a.m. we eached Westside Park where we launched the boat, the sun shines brightly on us. Since then it was sunny all day. The ocean was at 12 knots when our boat went out to sea, and it was going to reach 20 knots in an hour or so. We offered 60 vases successfully during the Four-Dragon Time. When we reached the shore again it was only 8 a.m. Right before we were going to start the vase offering, we spotted two deer ashore on the hill nearby. After we offered the vases we drove up the hill and saw two groups of deer, one group has 3 deer and the other 5. We all were very happy that the special offering that comes only once in 12 years was so smoothly accomplished. Some photos were taken about this activity, and they will be posted at our websites soon. On April 22 will be fire puja to Medicine Guru Buddha, releasing of lives and cemetery visit. On April 25 will be the only Four-Dragon Time vase offering left for this year. And right now we have 48 vases to offer. On May 6 will be the last fire puja of this season, and it will be one to Sakyamuni Buddha. It will also be followed by a cemetery visit. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon!Yutang

Today is a sunny Easter Sunday. Fire puja to Jesus went well. With help from winds fire was vigorous and bright. The white silk offered was burned into the shape of two large fish, heading in opposite ctions but lying side by side. It coincides with the story of Jesus feeding the multitude with five loaves and two fish. Now it is Dragon month of Dragon year. After we offer flowers there appeared on top of the fire altar a snake, with its head facing the Jesus altar in the east, its body coiled around the firewood on south side and its tail coiled around the firewood on west side. Later its head transformed into the shape of a dragon head. Right after the firewood pile came down on all sides simultaneously, in the center there appeared a dragon facing south-east with its body coiled together. At home when I looked at the photos taken then, the protruding stick on its back resembles a person standing there. So it reminds me of the famous theme of Guan Yin standing on a dragon. On our way home we stopped by Calvary Catholic Cemetery to do Powa service. Photos taken during the above Dharma activities will be posted at our websites soon. April 13 will be the first Four-Dragon Time offering of vases. April 22 will be fire puja to Medicine Guru Buddha and cemetery visit. April 25 will be the second Four-Dragon Time offering of vases. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang

It was cold and windy in the early morning. By the time we reached our fire puja place, the sun started to come out. But during preparation our fingers were numb due to coldness. Usually there are two crows that are there to eat the offerings we bring for them. Now they are so used to our presence that they were waiting on the ground nearby and started to eat while we were still there distributing the food offerings to them. Later one of them even walked around the outskirts of the fire platform and picked up food at leisure. Traditionally during a tantric fire puja the performers wear ceremonial outfit, including a Five-Buddha Crown. Today I brought the five-buddha crown that disciple Pure Dragon in Poland made for me (as sponsored by two other Polish disciples) and also put on the pair of yogic earrings that Pure Dragon offered to me not long agon. It was the very first time that I dressed up like this, following the traditional norm. See photo attached. The fire went very well, and it was sunny and windy. At first white smoke came out and it shaped like a dragon that flew up into the sky toward the east, where the master's table is located. At the end of the fire puja, all of a sudden, the east and south side of the fire pile came down completely while the other two sides stood intact. See photo attached. I have attended fire pujas since 1981, and this is number 833 fire puja on our record (During Guru Chen's time fire pujas were up to number 200), so that means I have attended over 700 fire pujas, but it was the very first time that I witnessed fire pile came down like this. Inside there appeared a huge skull shape and atop it at its center stood one firewood vertically. The skull shape resembles the skull on the earring, and the vertical firewood seems to represent a Vajra. In Tantra skull represents Dharmakaya or Sunyata. When the subsequent smoke puja was more than half-way through, suddenly very light drizzles started to fall, and disciple Xin Ping sensed and called out, "Oh, it is blessing nectars!" And then it became cloudy and cold, and dense but small hail came down. See photo attached. (When the Protector Mahakala arrives it usually hails.) And then it turned to rain, and some snow flakes came down amid the rain. And then only rain, and then it stopped and immediately it became clear sky and sunny again. From nectar drizzle to sunny again was only 10 to 15 minutes. Isn't this miraculous? Except this short period of sudden weather change, it was sunny all day. April 8 will be Easter Sunday, and we will perform fire puja to Jesus. After the fire puja we will visit a cemetery for Powa service. April 13 will be the first Four-Dragon Time vase offering. So far we have one large vase and 52 usual-size vases for this date. April 22 will be fire puja to Medicine Guru Buddha. April 25 will be the second Four-Dragon Time vase offering. So far we have one large vase and 22 usual-size vases for this date. Releasing of lives will also be done on this date. Depending on the logistics, we might postpone the fire puja on April 22 and do it after the vase offering on 25th. I will announce the final decision when it is near April 22. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang Photos

It was sunny today. The fire puja to Supreme Pleasure Vajra went very well. Fire was huge from early beginning. When I was reciting the ritual before we started the fire. There were 6 large crows flying continuously in circle above the fire puja platform. As soon as stopped the recitation, they flew in the direction of the Buddha altar and left. They acted as if they came to listen to the recitation of the ritual. And usually we don't see so many crows there, even though two or up to four crows usually would show up for the food offering we brought them. When I performed the Fire of Cooperative Pleasure, Shuang Yun Huo Guang, the first one was huge and shaped like a dragon head, Long Tou, (this one we failed to catch it in the photo), and the second one was also large and shaped like the tail of a phoenix, Feng Wei, and we caught it in a photo. One of the photos shows a phoenix, Feng, of fire. The fire pile came down toward the master's table. Then there appeared at the center of the fire pile a lion's head, and to its right and lower besides it, there appeared a dragon's head. On our way home we stopped by Calvary Catholic Cemetery in the outskirts of the City of Bodega, and we performed Powa service there. Photos taken during these activities will be posted at our websites soon. March 18 will be fire puja to Kurukulla and cemetery visit. April 8 will be Easter fire puja to Jesus and cemetery visit. April 13 will be Four Dragon Time vase offering. April 22 will be fire puja to Medicine Guru Buddha and cemetery visit. April 25 will be Four Dragon Time vase offering.

It was a nice day and we offered 13 vases to the Dragon King, vase number up to 3765. Since the precious Four-Dragon Time that will come around only every 12 years is approaching, from now on up to April 13 all vase requests will be offered then. And we have already 20 vases for the Four-Dragon Time (16 for April 13 and 4 for April 25) besides the two large vases that is one each for the two Four-Dragon Time. So these 20 vases are assigned numbers 3766 to 3785. The two large vases are assigned numbers 3786 and 3787. Fire puja to Guan Yin and susequent smoke puja both went very well. On top of the fire pile there appeared a snake head facing the master's table, and an eagle hanging down from the top on the side toward the Buddha altar. In the fire a musical sound of whistling occurred and were heard by all present. It was the first time ever that I heard such melodious sound coming, out from the fire. The fire pile came down toward all sides all at once, and a large elephant trunk appeared facing the Buddha altar. And then there appeared a turtle on top of the fire pile. During the smoke puja the turtle transformed into a golden bear's head. Eventually the smoke puja pile became a human face, facing south. The Khata offered by disciple Xin Ping was burned into a coiled ragon and it moved toward the master's table and rested on the floor. Occurrences of so many transformations seem to indicate the housand-arm thousand-eye multiplicity of Guan Yin's transformations for the sake of saving sentient beings. Some photos were taken during the above Dharma activities. They will soon be posted at our websites for all to share. On March 4 will be fire puja to Supreme Pleasure Vajra and a cemetery visit. On March 18 will be fire puja to Kurukulla, a cemetery visit and releasing of lives. Next vase offering will be on April 13, a Four-Dragon Time offering. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon!

It was sunny, not too cold and not too hot, and without winds today. The ocean was on the whole quite calm, except at some sections along the coastline there were some waves. The fire puja to Green Tara, along with White Tara and the protectress the Great White Umbrella, went well. Fire was strong, bright and beautiful through out the ceremony. We didn't have to do much to make the fire going so well. The fire pile came down toward the master's table, and firewoods formed a wide ladder on the floor. Immediately there appeared a dragon with horns, eyes, clearly recognizable on top of the remaining fire pile. Later during the smoke puja there appeared a fox head besides the place where the dragon head was. When we went to pay respect to the naturally formed Guan Yin statue on our land, I noticed that the bear-shape burnt wood had been reformed by weather to shape like a fox head. On our way home we stopped by Bloomfield Cemetery in Petaluma to do Powa service there. Some photos were taken during today's Dharma activities, and they will soon be posted at our websites for all to share. While reducing the photos sizes for easier transmission through email I noticed that in one photo in the fire there also appeared a fox face. And in one photo showing the Guan Yin statue alone, I noticed that the face area is clearly recognizable to be a human face today. On Feb. 19 will be vase offering, releasing of lives and fire puja to Guan Yin. On March 4 will be fire puja to Supreme Pleasure Vajra. On March 18 will be fire puja to Kurukulla. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang

It was sunny today. Fire puja to Amitabha went very well, also so is the subsequent smoke puja. Fire was strong and bright all the way through. There were many swirling winds and smokes came out from the fire altar--signs of Buddha's pleasure in receiving the offerings. At the end of the fire puja I also performed Powa. Near the naturally formed Guan Yin statue on our land we hung two large prayer flags today. They were sent to me recently from disciples in Taiwan. On our way home we stopped by Calvary Catholic Cemetery (what I used to call as "Bodega Cemetery" because it is in the outskirts of the City of Bodega, and there was no sign indicating its name; but today inside the gate I saw a notice with this name on it) and we scattered rice blessed by Powa over the tombs there. Some photos were taken during today's Dharma activities, and soon we will post them at our websites for all to share. Jan. 23 will be Chinese New Year's Day for the Year of the Dragon. Happy Dragon New Year! Feb. 5 will be fire puja to Green Tara and cemetery visit. Feb. 19 will be vase offering, releasing of lives and fire puja to Guan Yin. It was sunny today. We offered 9 vases to the Dragon King, vase number up to 3752. At Tides Wharf I gave Buddha Carlo this month's money for releasing of lives. The fire puja to Bodhisattva Earth Treasure went very well, with fire strong and bright all the way. After the fire pile came down there appeared a small dragon head with eyes and beard clearly recognizable, facing east. Later there appeared a dragon head with one horn facing south on top of the ashes. The subsequent smoke puja also went well. Some photos were taken during the above Dharma activities. They will be posted at our websites soon for all to see. Among the photos, in number 7545 the flame seems to show a Guan Yin standing on a dragon. Originally we scheduled the next fire puja to Amitabha Buddha on Jan. 22. Since Jan. 22 will be Chinese New Year's Eve, and people will be busy with festive activities, so we will do it on Jan. 15 instead. On Feb. 5 will be fire puja to Green Tara and cemetery visit. On Feb. 19 will be offering of vases, releasing of lives and fire puja to Guan Yin. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon!

It was cloudy early in the morning. We offered 18 vases to the Dragon King. This year we have offered 168 vases, up to number 3743. At Bodega Bay I gave Buddha Carlo the money for this month's releasing of lives. Soon after we arrived at our land the sun came out. Soon after we started the fire, some light winds came to help. The fire was very vigorous, huge and bright. The smoke puja also offered much sweet smoke offerings. We had a good time. Photos taken during our Dharma activities will be posted at our websites soon. On Christmas Day we will offer fire puja to Jesus, and visit a cemetery on our way back. Next vase offering and releasing of lives will be on Jan. 8. And we will also have fire puja to Bodhisattva Earth Treasure that day. On Jan. 22 we will offer fire puja to Amitabha Buddha, and visit a cemetery along our way home. It was a sunny day today. The fire puja to Medicine Guru Buddha went well, and fire was large and vigorous. As usual, during this fire puja to Medicine Guru Buddha we observed much blue color smoke. This time the silk we offered was in white color because it is a acifying puja, but the blue smoke did not become less. I think this indicated the presence of Medicine Guru Buddha whose color is blue according to Tantra. In the ashes there appeared a large dragon head with open mouth, the shades on the two fire sticks that formed the open mouth resembled dragon teeth. We stopped by Bodega Cemetery, and I performed Powa there. Some photos were taken during our Dharma activities, and they will be posted at our websites soon. December 11 will be offering of vases, releaing of lives and fire puja to the Great Northern Heavenly King. December 25 will be Christmas fire puja to the Five Saints of Christianity (we usually call this puja "the fire puja to Jesus"). May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang Photos A B C D

Today is Guru Chen's 24th Memorial Day. It was sunny and not cold in the morning. We offered 14 vases at Bodega Bay to the Dragon King, vase number reached 3725. The man who gave us ride out to sea had released 100 crabs on our behalves in the last few days. On our way up to our land I noticed a vertical column of cloud which shaped like a man sitting on the head of a dragon with its mouth opened. See photo 7122 attached. The fire puja to Manjusri went well. The fire pile came down toward us right at the moment when we made the second bow after circumambulation at the end. Then we noticed that in front and below the brick stand where the fire pile stood there appeared a dragon head that has miraculous resemblance. See photos 7186 and 7188 attached. In the Thangka of Guru Chen, he rides a dragon. So both the cloud sign and the vivid appearance of a dragon below the fire seat relate to the blessing of Guru Chen. Photos were taken during today's Dharma activities, and they will soon be posted at our websites for your viewing.

It was chilly but not cold in the early morning, and there were some clouds in the sky. Thanks to Buddha Carlo's help with arrangements we went out to sea from Bodega Bay at 8 a.m. We offered 20 vases at the mouth of Bodega Bay--vase number up to 3647. This time we went out further than last time because the ocean was rather smooth with minor waves. However, similar to last time, as soon as all vases were offered, waves immediately became much larger--a sure sign that dragons came to gather the offerings. We feel wonderful that the vases were successfully and smoothly offered before my trip to Asia. On our way home we stopped by Bodega Cemetery at the outskirt of the City of Bodega and performed Powa service there. Photos were taken during our Dharma activities and they will be posted on-line soon. We will offer 3 vases in Taiwan, 7 vases in 6 locations in China, and 2 vases in Melaka, Malaysia. So the vase that will be offered on Aug. 14 after my trip to Asia will begin with number 3660. On Aug. 14 there will also be releasing of lives and cemetery visit. I go to airport tomorrow evening and arrive in Taiwan in the morning of May 17, local time. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Photos

Fire Puja to Sakyamuni Buddha

2011-05-06
St. Joseph Cemetery in Fremont, California.

We conclude every year's fire puja season before summer with a fire puja to Sakyamuni Buddha because it is near his holy birthday, lunar April 8. Today the weather was fine and neither hot nor cold. Winds also came to help. So the fire puja went very well without much efforts. At Bodega Bay I gave Buddha Carlo money for releasing of lives in May, June and July. He said he will try to find a boat for our vase offering scheduled on May 14. On our way home we stopped by Bloomfield Cemetery near Valley Ford, and we performed Powa service there. Photos were taken during our Dharma activities, and they will be posted on-line soon. I will go to the airport for Asia in the evening of May 15. I will send you a list of contacts during my Asia trip in the next few days. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang Photos A B C D PDF

Easter Fire Puja

Early this morning on our way to the mountain there were periods of rain or light showers. When we reached the fire puja place there were still very light drizzles. So at first we were going to do it in the rainy day style. But the drizzle was too light, so we decided to do it outdoors. Then there were no more rain. The fire went well. Photos were taken during our activities, and they will be posted on-line soon. While we were circumambulating the fire puja platform, as soon as I stopped at the spot to bow to the holy image of Jesus, simultaneously the fire pile fell toward me. A clear sign of bestowing blessings to us. In the ashes there appeared a peacock with spreading tail. At Bodega Bay I gave Buddha Carlo this month's money for releasing of lives. The man who took us out to sea to offer vases had moved to another city. So Buddha Carlo is asking someone else to take us out to sea on May 8. As soon as I have a definite result I will let you know about it. We stopped by at the cemetery in the outskirts of City of Bodega, and we did Powa service there. May 8, Mothers' Day, will be vase offering, fire puja to Sakyamuni Buddha, and releasing of lives for May, June and July. I will go to airport for Asia in the evening of May 15. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang Photos_1 2 3 4

It was sunny today, and early in the morning it was a bit cold, but as soon as the sun came out, it became warm. We performed fire puja to Supreme Pleasure Vajra, and it went well with huge and bright fire. Today we offer many kinds of flowers. Photos were taken and will be posted on-line soon. When we set up the fire altar, from among the firewood there appeared a red reptile-like animal. Since today's fire puja is of the inducing type, this is a good omen. Today happens to be my mother's 94th birthday. A nice photo taken on her birthday in Taipei is attached. After we offered powders for the smoke puja, in the ashes there appeared a huge turtle (a sign of longevity) and from the right side of the turtle's body there extended a small lion's head. Lion signifies 法師(獅) Dharma teacher. This miraculously matches the relationship of my mother and me. From the photos one could see this. After lunch we hung prayer flags, that were sent to me from disciples in Beijing, China, around the fire puja platform. On our way home we stopped by the Bloomfield Cemetery in Petaluma and did Powa service there. Apr. 24 will be Easter fire puja to Jesus and releasing of lives. May 8 will be vase offering and fire puja to Sakyamuni Buddha. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang

As I mentioned in today's Dharma Activities report:
After we offered powders for the smoke puja, in the ashes there appeared a huge turtle (a sign of longevity) and from the right side of the turtle's body there extended a small lion's head. Lion signifies 法師(獅) Dharma teacher. This miraculously matches the relationship of my mother and me. From the photos one could see this. A disciple asked me if I have those photos, so I picked out two in response. In attached 6757 file, you can see the turtle. And in 6758 file, you can see the lion head. The weather forecast was 70 to 80 per cent chance of rain for this day. As we drove north rain became lighter and lighter and sky brighter and brighter. The low sections of highway near Valley Ford was flooded, so I phone Tides Wharf to let them know about the delay and the necessity to find detour. The man answered the phone told me a short cut detour that I did not know in the past. So it took us only an additional 20 minutes to reach Bodega Bay. The boat that was to take us out to sea had a low battery, so we waited for 1.5 hour to charge the battery up. By the time we went out to sea on the big boat, there was no rain at all. One participant asked me, "Does the Dragon King know that we are coming?" I replied, "Certainly. Don't worry about this." Then we noticed that there is a large cloud in the sky that looks very much like a dragon with a huge dragon head facing us, and its mouth was open with white clouds coming out like steam coming out of a mouth. You can see this in two of the photos that will be posted soon. Right at the mouth of Bodega Bay we offered 53 vases to the Dragon King (numbers 3569 and 3576 to 3627). Number 3569 was not offered last time because it was waiting for extra offerings sent by the donor to be included inside. On our way back to shore there was a nectar shower falling on the boat and the duration was not long. Buddha Carlo came into his office right when I was there looking for him; and I gave him this month's money for releasing of lives. It was already near noon time when we reached the hills in Cazadero, so instead of going to do the fire puja first, we went to the memorial gathering in honor of the late Buddha Dave. Many people, family and friends of Buddha Dave, were there, and we had a sumptuous potluck lunch there. We took some photos with Buddha Brenda who succeeded Buddha Dave in looking after Timber Cove as gateway to the Dragon Palace. At the gathering disciple Tara Nancy brought me a linen coat with colorful embroidered dragon in front and a pair of long socks that has images of a pair of dragons on them. She offered them as my Christmas/birthday present. (She took my birthday as a kind of Christmas). We went up to our land to perform the fire puja to the Great Northern Heavenly King. Right after all were set up, a brief nectar rain fell on us. Then no rain again. So we performed the fire puja with efforts but not much difficulty. The fire went well and in the end it was burning strong all over. We also went to pay our respect to the naturally formed Guan Yin statue on our land. A small branch fell and rested on the head of the statue. The small branch looked like a dragon; and one disciple had the impression that in this way it looks like the Guan Yin is wearing a crown. A couple joined us in our Dharma activities for the very first time today. They came all the way from Stockton. Later back at my place they took refuge from me in our Dharma Lineage. Apr. 10 will be fire puja to Supreme Pleasure Vajra. Apr. 24 will be Easter fire puja to Jesus and releasing of lives. May 8 will be vase offering and fire puja to Sakyamuni Buddha. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang

Fire Puja To Bodhisattva Earth Treasure

In the morning it was cloudy. When the fire puja started and at the end of the fire puja, mist of nectar permeated the area, but no one got wet and it lasted only a short while. It became sunny after we finished the smoke puja. There was no wind, at first the fire did not go strong. With fanning we brought the fire up, and then it went strong and bright all the way through. A few photos were taken during our Dharma activities. They will be posted on-line soon. Right after I started recitation suddenly there were birdcalls that sounds very pleasant, and I know that it was not the usual sounds of crows or vultures. After the fire puja I mentioned this strange but pleansant event, and right then the birdcalls occurred again. This is truly unusual because I had never heard this before. At the end the fire pile fell toward Bodhisattva Earth Treasure's altar, indicating his pleasure in receiving the offerings. The fire pile on the floor appeared like a ladder, and this happened almost all the time with fire pujas to Bodhisattva Earth Treasure. I think, this means that he is paving the way for our stepping upward on the enlightenment path. At Bodega Bay I met Buddha Carlo, and he said he will contact me as soon as his friend who has a boat at Bodega Bay returns from a trip out of town. Then we will arrange for an outing to sea to offer the vases. Right now it is up to number 3619 and we have 45 vases to offer. Mar. 26 will be fire puja to the Great Northern Heavenly King and releasing of lives. We will also attend a Memorial service in honor of Buddha Dave at Timber Cove after the fire puja. We will arrive Timber Cove around noon time. Apr. 3 will be fire puja to Supreme Pleasure Vajra. Apr. 24 will be Easter fire puja to Jesus and releasing of lives. May 8 will be fire puja to Sakyamuni Buddha. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang

Feb. 6, Fire Puja to Amitabha Buddha

It had been raining for about a week, but the rain stopped last evening, and today it was sunny. When we reached our land in the mountains the temperature was around 32 degrees F. But after the sun shone for a while it became warm. On our way to the mountain at Valley Ford 3 large wild turkeys walk across the road right in front of our car; they reminded me of the three holinesses of the Western Pureland, with mitabha's mount being a peacock. The fire was not easy to start at the beginning, and then it burned only at the bottom of the fire altar. Later wind came and it burned up through the whole altar and the fire was bright and huge. Eventually the fire altar fell toward the Buddha altar indicating Buddha's pleasure in accepting the offerings. Some photos were taken during the Dharma activities, and they will be posted on-line soon. At Bodega Bay I gave Buddha Carlo this month's money for releasing of lives. Right now we have 39 vases to offer and the number is up to 3613. I still would like to wait for Timber Cove to reopen soon. Mar. 6 will be fire puja to Bodhisattva Earth Treasure. Mar. 20 will be fire puja to the Great Northern Heavenly King and releasing of lives. Apr. 3 will be fire puja to Supreme Pleasure Vajra. Apr. 24 will be Easter fire puja to Jesus and releasing of lives. May 8 will be fire puja to Sakyamuni Buddha. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Yutang

Feb. 6, Fire Puja to Kurukulla

It was sunny, warm and a bit windy today. The fire puja to Kurukulla went very well, and the fire was bright and huge. It is near Valentine's Day so I ran into a heart shape floral arrangement at the Farmers' Market in El Cerrito. It was offered to Kurukulla today. Some photos were taken during our Dharma activities on the mountain. They will be posted on-line soon.Right now we have 31 vases to offer, up to number 3605. We are waiting for the reopening of boat launching at Timber Cove to offer them into the Dragon Palace. Feb. 20 will be fire puja to Amitabha Buddha and releasing of lives. Mar. 6 will be fire puja to Bodhisattva Earth Treasure. Mar. 20 will be fire puja to the Great Northern Heavenly King and releasing of lives. Apr. 3 will be fire puja to Supreme Pleasure Vajra. Fire Puja to Guan Yin

It was sunny today. When we reached our land in the mountains the temperature was at 32 F (0 C). Nevertheless, none of us felt cold at all, and soon we all took off our coats. The fire puja to Guan Yin went well, and some hotos were taken during our activities up there. Photos will be posted on-line soon. When I review the photos I couldn't help feeling that the white silk we offered was naturally shaped like a horse head, especially the two ears were so remarkable. Since Horse-head Vidya King, Ma Tou Ming Wang, is a transformation of Guan Yin, so I took this as a very auspicious sign of the protector's blessing. The fire pile fell toward the Buddha altar, and then mmediately spread around. This means Guan Yin was pleased to receive the offerings and the blessing spread all around. In the ashes there appeared a shape of a cross, and that is the Chinese character "Ten," so it could mean that the fire puja was perfect, in Chinese "十全十美." At Bodega Bay I gave Buddha Carlo the money for this month's releasing of lives.

Fire Puja to Green Tara

The ocean was very peaceful and we had 22 vases to offer, up to number 3596. But there was no one at Timber Cove to take us out to sea because Buddha Dave is in critical ondition, and his family is all around him in the hospital. So we will offer vases on Jan. 23.The weather was fine; a bit chilly in the early morning up on the frosty mountain, but it became not so cold after the sun came out. The fire puja to Green Tara went well. As usual we also offer White Tara and Great White Umbrella Protectress on the altar. Some photos were taken during the fire puja; they will be posted on-line soon. Photos

Fire puja to Great
Northern Heavenly King

When we left my place at 6 a.m. it was very cold, but by the time we reached our land it was not so cold. Disciple Tara Nancy met us at the juncture of Ford Ross and Meyers Grade to pick up 12 vavies back to her place for nursing. In this way next time when we go to offer Dragon vases the load in the car will not be so heavy. It was sunny, with light wind, and we did not run into "black ice"--icy road-surface on the hills. The fire was huge and very beautiful as you will soon see from photos taken during the puja. The ashes showed a large crocodile. We offered a white Khata to the naturally formed Guan Yin statue on our land to express our thanksgiving. We had lunch at the Tides at Bodega Bay. Buddha Carlo offered me a bottle of fine Cabernet Sauvignon. On our way back we stopped by Bloomfield Cemetery near Valley Ford and did Powa service there. Dec. 12 will be vase offering and fire puja to Medicine Guru Buddha. Dec. 25 will be fire puja to Jesus and releasing of lives. Jan. 9 will be fire puja to Green Tara. Jan. 23 will be fire puja to Guan Yin. May all beings attain Enlightenment soon! Photos
