Renouncing the Body for Buddha

Yutang Lin

On the Cliff of Renouncing the Body I did Powa for the ignorant ones.
How could offering the body to repay Buddha's grace be done by suicide?
Exerting all one's efforts in propagation of Dharma till one's last breath,
Only then could offering the body in gratitude to Buddha be achieved.

Comments:

On October 13 we watched sunrise atop the Golden Summit of E Mei Mountain and paid homage to the newly built majestic and gigantic holy statue of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra (Pu Xian Pu Sa) there. Then we went to the Cliff of Renouncing the Body on one side of the Golden Summit, and I performed Powa there to help all those who threw themselves off the cliff there to attain rebirth in Pureland. Renouncing the body to repay Buddha's grace should not be done through suicide. Rather, one should engage in Dharma practices, services and propagation throughout one's life. With pity for their ignorance I hope that future Buddhists will know the right direction to follow and truly renounce their body in gratitude to Buddha's grace.
