Where Are All Beings

Yutang Lin

Aiming at cultivation of Bodhicitta
All Dharma practices should stem from the aspiration
Toward the enlightenment of all sentient beings
In dedication of whatever merits a Buddhist has accrued
It should also be likewise

Some disciple feels that sentient beings are too vast in numbers
″All sentient beings″ can hardly be grasped but
Only too abstract and bewildering to one’s comprehension

Dharma is the right path for any sentient being aspiring toward emancipation from samsara
One needs only to grasp the meaning of the teachings
And then following it whole-heartedly in Dharma practices and daily life
Then one will surely attain emancipation from sufferings of worldly life
And even become fully awaken to the original purity in oneness of all

Therefore, practicing Dharma to attain emancipation for oneself
And afterwards to help other sentient beings attain emancipation
Is not an abstract matter but a way of life truly related to all sentient beings

The root of Dharma lies in recognizing and realizing the fact of ″non-self″
Hence, all Dharma practices use ″for all beings″ instead of the habitual grasping to ″self″
Even though sentient beings are too vast in numbers and hence incomprehensible
As soon as one treats all beings encountered in one′s sense fields
Equally as beneficiaries of one’s endeavors in Dharma practices and services
Then the objects of Bodhicitta will be actualized and materialized
