Guidelines for the Enlightening Path

Yutang Lin

  1. Recognize clearly that all are impermanent, and renounce grasping.
  2. Open up one’s mind, and patiently yield to embrace all.
  3. Avoid entanglements, and devote oneself completely into Dharma practices.
  4. Seize the moment, and act according to Dharma teachings.

Comments:

Disciple Ben Jing (Original Purity) sent me an email, calling himself ″children of Yang He″ (″Yang He″, the name of my study, means Cultivation of Harmony) and asked for ″Yang He Family Guidelines. ″ Taking Guru as father and Dharma Lineage as Dharma family are expressions of profound comprehension of the significance of Taking Refuge. However, Dharmadhatu is boundless, and cultivation of harmony should also be likewise. All Dharma teachings are for the enlightenment of all beings; and yet propensities and opportunities are various, and thus there are variations in offering and reception of teachings. Now upon the opportunity of this request I offer a few essential guidelines for sincere Dharma practitioners on the enlightening path.
