Learning to Offer Yutang Lin

Granted superior offering causes one to reflect;
Rare treasures forsaken, what merits to accept?
Free and open mind with deep and pure feeling
Deserves compliance to spread such generosity.

Comment:

Now and then Buddhists from various places would send me precious offerings. Such generosity naturally induces appreciation for their motives, views and practices. The reflection compels me to think about how to imitate their action so as to extend their merits. In the practice of almsgiving the following features are worthy of reference: being capable of renouncing precious belongings, giving without expectation of rewards, and exerting much efforts to accomplish the giving.
