願望得遂方信仰,違逆難免即背離;
認清無常圖解脫,遵循因果不妄求。

或謂,若所求世事得成,方能信佛。此類信仰,若隨波逐流之落花,一遇波濤,瞬即沉沒。正信之基礎,應是了解佛法所示之無常及因果,因此無有妄求,只圖依循正法修持,終獲離苦之解脫。

Right Faith Yutang Lin

Believe in Buddha only if wishes come true;
Setback for sure means immediate renounce.
Realizing impermanence to aim at liberation,
Obeying causal laws without fancy demands.

Comment:

Some said, if their worldly wishes come true, then they would believe in Buddha. This kind of faith is like fallen flowers floating on a stream that would sink immediately by waves. Right faith should be based on Buddhist teachings of impermanence and causal laws. Thus, there would be no delusive demands, only the hope that by practicing in accordance with the right Dharma one would eventually attain the liberation from suffering.
